On the day of the event, you can see boats with rainbow flags sailing through the canals of the city, while the crowds of people are gathering to join by the water either as audience or participators.

As one of the biggest events in Europe, the Amsterdam Gay Pride is not only a cultural event but also a hip party that attracts tourists from all over the world.

Dates and Location

Amsterdam Gay Pride takes place in the capital city of the Netherlands, Amsterdam, every year from July 27th to August 4th, 2019.

Lineup

Participators and visitors can attend an event every day, all week long.

Every year, the lineup highlights several main attractions in the Parade.

Here is the lineup of 2019:

July 27th, 11:00 a.m. to 2 p.m: Pride Park and Pride Walk

August 3rd, 12:30pm to 5:00pm: Canal Parade.

Have a great time with the best view from any of these bridges or book a room (a few months before, preferably) with a balcony that offers a view of the canal.

August 2nd and August 3rd, 11:00pm to 12:00am: Street Party

August 4th, 2:00pm to 10:00pm: Pride Closing Party

Getting to Amsterdam Gay Pride

Flights

The Amsterdam International Airport gathers crowds of passengers from all over the world ad it covers more than 100 airlines.

It has a fast commute as it is set at only 12 miles away from the city.

Bus

At the airport, you may find express busses that will transport you to the city in only half an hour.

The price of the round-trip ticket is $11, so make sure you keep an eye on your ticket.

Car

Ubers and taxis are a convenient option for transport as they can quickly take you to the city center.

Bike

The bike rental company MacBike offers its all-day round services for travelers who want to bike around the city during the parade.

As Amsterdam is one of the friendliest cities for bikes in the world, you will find it easy to move in the crowd and hop from one event to another.

Public Transportation

Remember this abbreviation- GVB- it’s the name of the transport system in Amsterdam that includes buses, the tube, and trams around the city.

You can also buy a temporary ticket in advance and use it in the following seven days.

The most affordable and convenient way to get to the destination is by taking the trains that leave from platforms 1 and 2, leaving every 15 minutes.

Accommodation

We recommend you to stay in the center of the city so you have all the events close at hand.

Downtown Amsterdam can be a bit pricey, in that case, you can check out accommodation available across the water, Amsterdam Noord, for example, or try to find something out of the central area if you’re on a budget.
